The rematch for Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira is 'close to being finalized' for UFC 282 on December 10th according to Ariel Helwani.

There were plans to hold it at UFC 283 in Brazil but Prochazka opposed it. Prochazka tweeted the event number, the date, and mentioned the location Las Vegas. It appears that is where this fight will take place.

These two competed in a certain Fight of The Year contender last June at UFC 275 in Singapore with the Light Heavyweight title on the line. The fight was a wild affair of strikes and grappling exchanges that eventually saw Prochazka lock up a rear-naked choke in the 5th round to secure the win and the belt.

After their war, there was much speculation as to who Prochazka would fight next as the newly crowned champion. Gloer, having lost his belt, wanted the rematch right away. There seemed to be a chance we'd get the former champion Jan Blachowicz vs. Prochazka, but that fizzled out. Lastly, there were reports that Dana White had plans for the winner of Magomed Ankalaev vs. Anthony Smith to fight for the belt, but now Ankalaev, the winner, seems to be chasing Blachowicz.

Prochazka entered the fight with Glover a sizeable -200 favorite despite being the challenger. The chances he would win by submission however were 16:1 and the fight result was considered a massive upset. Even more impressive is that Glover Teixeira was winning the fight on 2 judges' scorecards leading up to the final round and was well on his way to winning the 5th.

Both fighters have expressed shame in their performances that night and believe that they are capable of much more, now it seems that they will be given the opportunity to show that.
